MISSION

Carole Alexis Dance Theatre — Ballet des Amériques is a professional dance company and conservatory dedicated to the creation, performance, education, and transmission of the art of dance.

Rooted in her extensive training, professional experience, and cultural heritage, the organization’s work encompasses classical and contemporary ballet, modern dance, African and Afro-Caribbean traditions, and the broader artistic and cultural experiences of the African Diaspora, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Americas.

Carole Alexis does not need to bring different traditions into ballet. They are already part of her artistic DNA. Her choreographic language has emerged naturally from this breadth of experience and continues to develop through her work with dancers, colleagues, associates, and collaborators.

Through original choreography, professional performance, rigorous pre-professional education, cultural transmission, and community engagement, the organization creates opportunities for artists to develop and for audiences to encounter dance as an art form that carries history, expresses identity, strengthens cultural understanding, and connects people across cultures and generations.

Our mission is to create, present, and share meaningful dance productions; develop artists; transmit knowledge and heritage; educate; and contribute to a more connected, culturally confident, and peaceful society through the arts

VISION

To build a lasting artistic legacy that reflects the complexity, richness, and interconnectedness of our world.

Carole Alexis Dance Theatre — Ballet des Amériques envisions a future in which the artistic language developed by Carole Alexis, together with her colleagues, associates, and collaborators, continues to grow, reach new audiences, and be carried forward by new generations of dancers and artists.

At the heart of this vision is creation, transmission, and encounter: preserving the rigor, knowledge, and heritage of dance while allowing them to live, develop, and speak through new choreography, new artists, new audiences, and new cultural contexts.

Our vision continues to be not simply to present dance, but to build a lasting artistic and cultural institution whose work contributes to human understanding, cultural confidence, dialogue, social advancement, and peace.

ACTIONS

For the past 15 years

Carole Alexis Dance Theatre — Ballet des Amériques has created, performed, taught, and shared dance across stages, communities, schools, cultural institutions, and public spaces. We have built an artistic and educational institution through sustained creation, professional performance, rigorous training, cultural transmission, and community engagement—and we continue to expand this work.

CREATE
For the past 15 years, we have created and developed an original body of choreography by Carole Alexis, reflecting her distinctive artistic language and the cultural and artistic experiences that have shaped her work. This growing repertoire represents a sustained body of artistic creation developed through the work of Carole Alexis with the dancers, colleagues, associates, and collaborators who have contributed to its realization.

PERFORM
For the past 15 years, the company has presented hundreds of professional performances in theaters, cultural institutions, schools, libraries, community spaces, outdoor settings, festivals, and other venues. We have brought Carole Alexis's choreography to diverse audiences and have consistently created opportunities for professional dance to be experienced beyond traditional stages and in communities where it was not already present.

TRAIN
For the past 15 years, through the Ballet des Amériques Conservatory, we have provided rigorous pre-professional training, developing young dancers technically, artistically, and professionally and preparing them for advanced study and professional pathways.

TRANSMIT
EDUCATE & ACCOMPANY

For the past 15 years, we have educated, trained, mentored, and accompanied our students throughout their development as young artists and as young adults. Our work extends beyond technical dance training: we prepare students for auditions, workshops, advanced training programs, competitions, college and university admissions, and the transition toward professional life.

Our students have been accepted into and participated in prestigious institutions and programs including the Ballet School of the Opéra National de Paris, The Royal Ballet School, English National Ballet School, The Juilliard School, American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, San Francisco Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Ballet West, Martha Graham School, Nederlands Dans Theater programs, Institut Stanlowa, and the École Supérieure de Danse Rosella Hightower, among others.

We have actively accompanied our students through the college admissions process, helping them prepare auditions, portfolios, applications, and the transition from conservatory training into higher education. Our support does not end when a student leaves the conservatory: we remain connected to our former students and continue to follow and support their development as they pursue dance, higher education, and other professional paths.

This commitment to the individual development of each student is central to our educational mission. We do not simply train dancers; we accompany young people through important stages of their artistic and educational lives.

CONNECT
For the past 15 years, we have created encounters among artists, audiences, cultures, and generations through performances, educational programs, community initiatives, collaborations, and cultural events.

REACH
For the past 15 years, we have gone where dance was not already present. We have brought professional dance directly into communities, schools, outdoor spaces, public events, and other settings, making the art form accessible beyond the traditional theater.

BUILD
For the past 15 years, we have built an independent professional dance company and conservatory, developing the artistic, educational, and organizational foundation for sustained growth. We continue to strengthen this institution and expand its presence in New York City and beyond.

CULTIVATE
For the past 15 years, we have cultivated dancers, students, audiences, families, educators, artists, and community partners through dance—creating opportunities for people to experience the art form as a vehicle for artistic expression, cultural identity, education, dialogue, and human connection.

CONTINUE AND EXPAND
After 15 years of sustained work, we continue to create, perform, educate, transmit, connect, and bring professional dance to new audiences and new places. The next chapter builds upon an established artistic legacy while extending Carole Alexis's choreographic language to new generations, communities, stages, and cultural contexts.
